Border Patrol Agents Arrest Gang Members and a Sex Offender in RGV

EDINBURG – (News Release) Rio Grande Valley Sector agents arrested three gang members and a convicted sex offender.

On April 26, RGV agents apprehended a group of 12 migrants near Encino. Record checks on a Salvadoran national revealed he is an 18th Street gang member. In 2010, he was sentenced to 180 days confinement and 60 months’ probation for manufacturing/possession of dangerous weapons in California.

On April 27, McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents apprehended a group of eight migrants near Mission. Among the group was Juan Carrillo-Munoz, a Mexican national, who is a registered sex offender convicted in 2018 of sexual exploitation of a child in Illinois. He was sentenced to two years’ probation and subsequently removed from the U.S.

Later that evening, Rio Grande City Station agents apprehended a Salvadoran national near Rio Grande City. During processing he was identified as a MS-13 gang member.

Today, MCS agents apprehended a Mexican national identified as a Paisa gang member. He was sentenced to more than a year confinement for a weapon offense in South Carolina and subsequently removed from the U.S.

All subjects were processed accordingly.
