CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – Corpus Christi City Council approved an ordinance appropriating $3,000,000.00 in remaining funds from the FY 2021 Texas Ambulance Supplemental Payment Program (TASPP) to be used by the Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) to purchase equipment and supplies used during emergency response situations.

In FY 2021, the City received a $4.8 million TASPP grant allocating $1.8 million to the CCFD to purchase 140 self-contained breathing apparatus and replace one engine truck.

“This is a great news item for the City of Corpus Christi,” said Mayor Paulette Guajardo. “The Corpus Christi Fire Department has the full support of the City Council as they pursue additional funding sources to assist with the purchase of important and lifesaving equipment.”

Today’s funding approval allows the remaining $3 million for use by the CCFD to purchase additional life-saving equipment, including:

· One new fire engine

· Audiovisual equipment

· 25 Cardiac Defibrillators

· Cardiac Monitors for all City Ambulances

· 21 Lucas devices, battery-powered mechanical chest compression devices

“The equipment will give our firefighters and paramedics tools that will make them more efficient and will save lives,” said CCFD Chief Robert Rocha.
