New Food Pantry at BCISD

By Julie Hickman, STCN

BISHOP - On Friday, September 2, 2022, Bishop Consolidated Independent School District (BCISD) opened their food pantry to the BCISD community.

The pantry is located at the Lillion E. Luehrs Junior High School cafeteria and will be open on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 1 pm - 3pm. Only families of BCISD, including transfers students, will qualify for assistance.

Chick-fil-A in Kingsville donated the funds to purchase the refrigerators, shelves, wagons, and additional food to help start the pantry.

A minimum of 20 families may receive up to 25 pounds of food.

Additional funding will be provided by the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) Program. CEP is a non-pricing meal service option for school districts in low-income areas.

To donate or to volunteer at the pantry, call Ileana Valadez, Communities in Schools Case Manager, at (361) 584-3591 ext. 403.
