Flight Agreement Could Positions Corpus Christi as a Competitive Air Service Market

City of Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - Corpus Christi City Council approved a set of coordinated Minimum Revenue Guarantee Funding Agreements that will support Frontier Airlines' coming to Corpus Christi International Airport and offering new nonstop service to Denver International Airport.

A Minimum Revenue Guarantee is a performance-based funding agreement that reduces the financial risk for airlines launching services in new markets. If ticket revenue falls below a guaranteed threshold during the initial launch period, the local partners cover the shortfall, making it more feasible for airlines to enter mid-sized markets like Corpus Christi.

The three agreements, between the City of Corpus Christi, Visit Corpus Christi, the Type B Corporation, and Frontier Airlines, combine to provide $1,182,326 in funding.

Bringing Frontier Airlines to Corpus Christi is a strategic investment in our city’s growth and connectivity,” said Mayor Paulette Guajardo. “This partnership strengthens our position as a competitive air service market and expands opportunities for both residents and visitors.”

“Minimum Revenue Guarantees are one of the most effective tools we have to compete for expanded air service,” said Economic Development Director Arturo Marquez. “These agreements support greater access for our residents and visitors, and they signal to the market that Corpus Christi is open for business.”

Frontier Airlines will operate the new nonstop route twice a week, with flights departing on Thursdays and Sundays. This will provide convenient access to Denver for both leisure and business travelers.
