Fires Across South Texas

By STCN staff

SINTON, TEXAS - On Tuesday, March 4th, the fire environment was a complex and dynamic situation due to uncertainty on rainfall coverage and high winds in the area.

Sinton volunteer fire department and regional emergency response partners were actively monitoring the Welder fires across San Patricio County yesterday. San Patricio County Judge David Krebs said the Welder Fire claimed about 20 homes in Sinton. 60 residents were evacuated to the Sinton Civic Center.

Two fires were burning in Sinton simultaneously, with the Welder Fire listed as having burned 175 acres and another fire near Steel Dynamics.

In Corpus Christi, the Fire Department was working six fires, including one outside the Valero refinery fence line, according to city manager Peter Zanoni.
