KINGSVILLE (News Release) - The City of Kingsville is excited to host its 4th annual Festival de la Lotería in Main Street Kingsville on April 17. Last year, organizers had to postpone the in-person event and instead played virtual stay at home lotería with more than 500 on-line attendees.

“We are glad that we opted to have a virtual event last year, at that time, people were following stay at home orders and it provided entertainment, fun and prizes. This year, with much of our community vaccinated, social distancing strategies in place and declining cases, we are excited to bring this fun-filled event back to downtown,” said Director of Tourism Janine Reyes.

Festival de la Lotería kicks off on Kleberg Avenue at 10 a.m. and continues through 5 p.m.

Attendees can purchase lotería cards and compete for thousands of dollars in prizes. Each hour of play offers at least ten large prizes and several great consolation prizes from leather goods to a big screen TV to restaurant gift cards, bicycles for the kids, an arcade game, some charcoal grills and even a two night stay on the bay for a group of four that includes a cast and blast package.

Lotería cards are 2 for $20 and shoppers will get special bonus plays when they purchase from our partners. All proceeds raised will benefit Keep Kingsville Beautiful in their freeze restoration efforts.

Guests also have the opportunity to win prizes by dressing up as their favorite lotería character; adult and children categories will both be judged. The event will also feature a Spring in South Texas Fashion show with great fashion tips from the King Ranch Saddle Shop, Stef and Bec’s Boutique, Cactus flower Boutique and Gypsy Reign Boutique.

Lowes will be providing free activities for the kids and the Kingsville Parks and Rec department will offer face painting, chancla throw and piñatas. Pony rides will also be apart of the fun and Fit 24 is providing test your strength games.

This year, organizers have also added a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic, where attendees can roll up their sleeves and help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus by taking advantage of the free Moderna vaccine offered by Kleberg County.

Anyone 18+ is eligible. There will also be a special Healthcare Heroes tribute and guests will be able to include their special message to those who have worked so hard to ensure our community’s safety this past year.

Guest can register to win a free overnight stay and a historical tour of the King Ranch® Friday morning. Log onto KingsvilleTexas.com to register to win.
