Driver Flees from Constables in Bishop

BISHOP (News Release) - On June 5, at approximately 2:11 am., a Deputy Constable, of the Nueces County Constable's Office Precinct #3 attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a passenger car on F.M. 70.

The driver of the vehicle fled in the vehicle at a high rate of speed through the City of Bishop. The vehicle later stopped on a residential street within Bishop city limits and the driver fled on foot. The Deputy pursued the driver and took the driver into custody.

During an inventory of the vehicle the Deputy located one handgun, one semi-automatic AK style rifle, and 0.29 grams of Methamphetamine. The driver was a person prohibited from possessing firearms due to previous felony convictions.

The driver was charged with the following offenses: Evading Arrest or Detention with Vehicle, Evading Arrest or Detention (On Foot), Possession Controlled Substance PG1 Under 1 gram, and 2 counts of Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon.
