Pct. 5 Deputies Work Special Operation

Oscar Mendoza Jr., Nueces County Constable Precinct 5

NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS - (News Release) On Aug. 21st, Constable Pct. 5 Deputies along with D.P.S and units from the Nueces Sheriff’s Office worked a special operation to enforce school bus violations.

Texas Traffic law requires for drivers to stop for school buses when they are loading or unloading and have their flashing red lights and STOP signs extended out.

The only time, drivers are not required to stop is when a road or highway is divided with a median.

Roads such as FM 624 which is a wide road with four lanes and a turning lane, requires drivers to stop for a bus which is loading or unloading children.

Please be on the lookout for warning signs which tell drivers of possible school buses stoping ahead.

If you see a school bus with flashing yellow lights, be ready to stop.

Pct. 5 and D.P.S will continue to work enforcement during the upcoming days. Six drivers were cited this afternoon. The goal is to not have to stop anyone else.

Let’s obey the law and let’s keep the children safe.
