Del Rio Border Patrol Agents Arrest Sex Offender

DEL RIO (News Release) – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Del Rio Sector arrested a convicted sex offender, May 10.

At 5:15 a.m., Uvalde Station agents arrested a group of 11 subjects stemming from a failed human smuggling attempt on Highway 57. All subjects were transported to the Eagle Pass Centralized Processing Center. During processing, record checks revealed that a Mexican national, Heriberto Cuevas-Hidalgo, 38, was previously convicted for sexual activity with a minor. in Utah, in 2015.

As a convicted felon with prior removals, he faces a charge of 8 USC § 1326 – Re-entry after Deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

During fiscal year 2022, Oct. 1, 2021, through March 31, Del Rio Sector agents have encountered more than 944 criminal migrants.
