Defendant Sentenced to 18 Year For Cutting Victim’s Throat

Aransas County Attorney's Office

ROCKPORT, TEXAS (News Release) - On September 30, 2025, Ashley Padier pled guilty to the offense of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Padier’s criminal history showed that in 2012, she was sentenced to 5 years in prison for the offense of Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin >=4g<200g. In 2016, she was sentenced to 9 months state jail for Possession of Controlled Substance <1g. In 2020, she was sentenced to 10 months state jail for Possession of Controlled Substance <1g.
The stipulated evidence showed that Padier cut the throat of the victim after Padier and a witness rode to the victim’s location. At this time, the victim walked towards the truck occupied by the witness and Padier.

Padier then jumped out of the truck and punched the victim in the stomach while cutting the victim’s throat with a knife the other hand. Padier wasn’t arrested until five days after the assault happened. When interviewed by law enforcement, Padier stated she had gotten out of rehab just hours before this incident happened.

She also said multiple times that she did not do anything wrong. At the time of Padier’s interview, she was unaware that law enforcement had already obtained statements from the victim and a witness at the scene. In jail calls, Padier explained that she avoided seeing her family during this time because she knew law enforcement was searching for her.

The jail calls also indicated that attempts were made to intimidate the victim into not testifying.

After the case was indicted, Padier failed to appear for court in May of 2024 for this case and another case that she had pending. The Failure Appear charges were also indicted and Padier pled to prison time on those cases as well.

In exchange for her pleas of guilty, a theft case involving Walmart was dismissed against Padier.
