Council Receives Update on the Art Center

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – The Corpus Christi City Council members received an update on operations at the Art Center of Corpus Christi.

The Art Center of Corpus Christi, located at 101 N. Shoreline Boulevard, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to nurture and promote local/regional artists and art to serve our diverse community.

The Art Center had a local economic impact of just over $1 million in 2021 and is on track to generate over $130,000 of income for local artists by the end of the year. There are also plans to double free family programs to twice weekly in 2023.

The City will be making the following repairs to the Art Center, which is a city-owned facility:

  • New roof

  • Repair water-damaged ceilings and trim

  • Sand and patch rust and corroded elements

  • Power wash and paint the exterior of the building

The Art Center of Corpus Christi is a destination for artists, school groups, visitors, tourists, and community members to view rotating exhibitions of original artwork and engage in art-making experiences. The gallery is also home to Wednesday’s local Farmers Market.
