Corpus Christi Gearing Up for Spring Break 2024
City of Corpus Christi
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) – The City of Corpus Christi is preparing for a large influx of visitors to area beaches during Spring Break 2024.
Lifeguards will patrol Gulf beaches using mobile units. Visitors should observe the flag warning system to stay informed about surf and rip current conditions. The flags are positioned at all Gulf beach access roads.
A lane for emergency vehicles will be established on the Gulf beach from Zahn Road to Newport Pass.
The Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) will establish an Island command post and focus on impaired drivers through dedicated DWI patrols during Spring Break.
The CCPD will monitor traffic flow on Aquarius Street and other key intersections along Park Road 22, including Whitecap Boulevard, Commodores Drive, and State Highway 361 on the main route to Port Aransas. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to leave early for their destination.
As a result of the Packery Channel Dredging and Beach Nourishment Project, the beach in front of the seawall near the Windward parking lot is now 100 feet wider. The new wider stretch of beach is a mile and a half long and gives visitors more area of beach to enjoy.
The JFK Causeway Bridge will have all lanes open during Spring Break.
Port Aransas ferry services will operate at total capacity and are ready to handle any increase in late-night traffic.
City parks, swimming pools (Collier Pool and Natatorium), and splash pads will be open with free admission.
