CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - The Corpus Christi Police Department recognized students from four area high schools Friday as they completed the 5th annual MetroCom Enrichment Program.
On Friday, May 15, 2026, students in the program’s Law Enforcement track wrapped up four months of hands-on training focused on dispatching operations and emergency response throughout the county.

The practicum course provides seniors with one semester of on-campus instruction followed by a second semester of on-site learning, where students apply practical emergency dispatch skills at MetroCom within the Police Department.
According to officials, the MetroCom Enrichment Program gives students an inside look at careers in emergency communications and public safety, helping prepare high school graduates for future opportunities in the field.
Department leaders said the program had been part of a “wish list” for more than a year before becoming a reality. Officials credited the combined efforts of the school district and the Police Department for making the program possible. Through a collaborative effort, both sides partnered to implement all processes for the program in April 2022.
Officials also praised the students for their dedication and hard work throughout the program and said they are excited to see what the future holds for the graduates.
