Corpus Christi Man Arrested for Felony Sexual Assault at Pharr International Bridge

U.S. Customs and Border Protection

PHARR (News Release) - Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Pharr International Bridge arrested Mychael Andrew Lopez after a primary computer check revealed that Lopez was a match to an arrest felony warrant for sexual assault.

“Our ability to check every person’s identity who is seeking entry into the United States at the border, or any point of entry, allows our officers to detect those individuals with outstanding arrest warrants,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas.

Lopez, a 33-year-old male U.S. citizen from Corpus Christi, Texas, arrived at the Pharr International Bridge driving a black Nissan Altima. CBP officers secured and escorted Lopez to secondary after receiving an alert that indicated he was a possible match to an arrest warrant for sexual assault. Biometric verification confirmed Lopez’ identity along with the outstanding arrest felony warrant from the Nueces County Sheriff’s Department issued on March 31 for two counts of sexual assault.

CBP OFO arrested Lopez and subsequently turned him to the custody of the Pharr, Texas Police Department who transported him to the Hidalgo County jail where he will await extradition procedures.
