Corpus Christi City Council Authorizes Wranosky Park Improvements

City of Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - Corpus Christi City Council approved an agreement to partner with The Boston Group, LLC (TBG) to improve Wranosky Park, located at 422 Graham Road.

Improvements at the park will include the following:

·        Relocation of the sidewalk from the south end of the park, further north, near the existing bridge

·        Extension of the parking lot into the south, relocated sidewalk area

·        Replacement of all parallel parking with diagonal parking

·        Redesign traffic flows to a one-way route for entry and exit

·        Increase designated parking spaces for adequate ADA compliance

According to the agreement, the City will pay $111,000 from the City's Parks Capital Improvement Fund, and TBG will contribute the construction labor for the project. The park was chosen for the improvements due to a deteriorating infrastructure that could not have been addressed without the aid of TBG.

"The City of Corpus Christi is so grateful for our partnership with The Boston Group to elevate this park and help it become a wonderful space for our residents to gather and enjoy," said Mayor Paulette Guajardo. "These improvements will go a long way toward the overall experience for our park visitors, skateboarding enthusiasts, the nearby RV park residents, and the community at large."

“Improvements to the parking and sidewalk were designed not only to increase parking spaces, but also to improve access, connectivity, traffic flow, and ADA compliance,” said Robert Dodd, Director of the Parks & Recreation Department. “We’ve heard from the RV park and skateboard members who regularly use this park that they are looking forward to these developments.”

Once construction begins, the project will be completed in approximately two months, weather permitting.
