Corpus Christi Approves $5.2 Million in Federal Grant Funding

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – Corpus Christi City Council approved $5.2 million in federal grant funding for projects and programs relating to community development, affordable housing, and homelessness.
Each year, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) allocates Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) entitlement funds to the City of Corpus Christi for community development, affordable housing, and homelessness projects and programs.
Funds will be used for:
Minor home repairs for seniors and persons who are disabled
Code enforcement measures through compliance activities, demolition, and clearing lots of violations
A truck to deliver meals to senior centers
A generator for the Central Kitchen that prepares meals for seniors
Emergency shelters and homeless services
Affordable rental housing, home rehabilitation, tenant-based rental assistance, and new home construction
The City’s Neighborhood Services Department administers these grants.
