City of Corpus Christi Approves $200,000 for Emergency Mortgage Assistance

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – The City Council approved $200,000 for the Texas Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program. Eligible homeowners behind on their mortgages due to a COVID-19 related financial hardship can get help with overdue or upcoming payments.
The total number of months covered by the program for back payments, current and forward payments combined cannot exceed six months of assistance. Mortgage payments under the program are made to eligible lenders. Mortgages cannot be under threat of foreclosure. Homeowners must have incomes at or below 80 percent of the area median. For a family of four, that limit is $55,450.
Funding for the program is provided by a grant through the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
To apply, homeowners can visit www.cctexas.com/gmd to download an application. Applications are also available for in-person pick-up at the Neighborhood Services Department in City Hall at 1201 Leopard Street on the second floor. Applicants with questions can call 361-826-3010.
