City of Corpus Christi
CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) –The City Council approved a $3.7 million dollar construction contract to J. Carroll Weaver of Sinton, Texas, for the reconstruction of Brawner Parkway from Kostoryz Road to Carroll Lane located in District 2. Funding for this project comes from Bond 2018 Streets Funds, Storm Water, Wastewater, Water, and Gas Funds included in the FY 2021 Capital Budget.
The construction will include new asphalt pavement, curbs and gutters, new driveways, ADA-compliant pedestrian improvements, pavement markings, signage, street lighting enhancements, and utility upgrades to water, wastewater, and storm water. The project will maintain the same roadway width.
“The City Council awarded a contract today for the reconstruction of Brawner Parkway from Kostoryz Road to Carroll Lane. This project is another significant step forward in the repair of our city’s major arteries and our continued commitment to our residents to fix our streets,” said Mayor Paulette M. Guajardo.
Brawner Parkway is classified as a parkway roadway, a half-mile in length with a grassed channel drainage ditch in the center dividing the roadway. The section from Kostoryz Road to Carroll Lane was constructed in 1955. In 1989, a sealcoat was performed, and in 2001 Public Works crews completed rehabilitation of the roadway.
The project is anticipated to take 13 months, with construction beginning in July 2021. For the latest information on the Brawner Parkway project, please visit www.cctexas.com/brawner.
