Cole Park Playground Closed Through May 29

City of Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) – The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department will close the Cole Park playground, located at 1900 Ocean Drive, for improvements beginning Monday, February 19. The playground is scheduled to reopen on May 29, weather permitting.

The project consists of fully demolishing the existing playground unit and surface, installing a new play-for-all multigenerational playground, and multiple enhancements, including upgraded seating, drainage, and ADA accessibility.

This $1.125M project was approved by the voters during the 2022 Bond Election.

Cole Park will remain open for patrons to enjoy other park amenities such as the pier, plaza, skate park, amphitheater, and walking/bike trail. Patrons are asked to be aware of cautionary signage and temporary barriers at the work site to maintain public safety. Patrons can also visit McCaughn Park at The Water’s Edge, located at 402 S. Shoreline Blvd, for the nearest playground along the scenic bayfront.
