KINGSVILLE, TEXAS (News Release) - A multi-agency task force assisted Texas Department of Public Safety troopers in seizing more than 18 kilograms of cocaine during a traffic stop in Kleberg County on January 18, 2026.

According to officials, DPS troopers contacted task force special agents for assistance after stopping a vehicle that was subsequently searched. Agents helped locate and access an aftermarket compartment concealed within the vehicle.

The search resulted in the recovery of 16 bundles of cocaine, with a combined weight of approximately 18.5 kilograms.

Authorities said the seizure highlights ongoing collaboration between state and federal law enforcement agencies to disrupt drug trafficking activity. Task force officials emphasized that many such operations occur without public notice, but play a critical role in removing illegal narcotics and other contraband from local communities.
