Coastal Bend Junior High Sweeps 5A OAP Competition

VICTORIA, TEXAS - On Saturday, November 2, 2024, three area middle schools traveled to Victoria to compete at the 5A One Act Play (OAP) competition.

The OAP competition consisted of 3 Victoria Middle Schools, Mathis Middle School, Calallen Middle School, and Luehrs Junior High School. The Coastal Bend swept the OAP competition with Mathis Middle School placing 3rd, Calallen Middle School placing 2nd. and Luehrs Junior High placing 1st.

Mathis Middle School presented “Superhero Sanitarium” directed by Ramiro Soliz, Adina Hernandez and Luis Villasana.

Honorable Mention All Star Cast - Aaron Hernandez & Alianah Lopez

All Star Cast - Daveon Garza

This was the 1st year for Mathis to have an OAP team in Middle School.

Calallen Middle School presented “Digging Up the Boys” directed by Kaitlyn Williams and Karah Witzche.

Calallen Middle School will hold a public performance on Friday, Dec. 6th at 6 pm at the Calallen High School.
