City of Taft Launches Major Water Infrastructure Project with $3.26M Grant

TAFT, TEXAS (News Release) - The City of Taft has officially kicked off a multi-million-dollar water and wastewater improvement project, funded by a $3,261,400 award through the Texas General Land Office’s (GLO) Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) program.

Mayor Vasquez led the project’s kickoff meeting yesterday alongside representatives from the Texas General Land Office, project manager Justin Meyer of Traylor & Associates, Ardurra Engineering, and city administration.

The funding will support critical infrastructure upgrades aimed at increasing disaster resilience and reducing long-term risks associated with flooding and other emergencies. According to HUD Mitigation, these improvements will help safeguard lives, property, and public health by minimizing the impact of future disasters.
