CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) – The City of Corpus Christi is preparing for a large influx of visitors to area beaches during Spring Break 2026. 

Lifeguards will patrol Gulf beaches using mobile units. Visitors should observe the beach flag warning system to stay informed about surf and rip current conditions. The flags are positioned along all Gulf beach access roads. Visitors can also view daily beach conditions as a story on Facebook @corpuschristiparksandrecreation.

A lane for emergency vehicles will be established on the Gulf beach from Zahn Road to Newport Pass.

Weather conditions have increased the risk of fires. A burn ban is in effect on City beaches through March 28. The Corpus Christi Fire Department will have an increased EMS and Fire presence during spring break, on the weekends of March 6, 7, 8, and 13, 14, and 15.

From March 6 to March 15, dogs will not be allowed on the stretch of Gulf beach from Access Road 3 to Zahn Road, including the north side of Packery Channel. 

The Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) will have an increased presence on the Island. The CCPD will set up a command post and will focus on impaired drivers during spring break through dedicated DWI patrols.

The CCPD will monitor traffic flow on Aquarius Street and other key intersections along Park Road 22, including Whitecap Boulevard, Commodores Drive, and State Highway 361 on the main route to Port Aransas. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to leave early for their destination. 

City parks and year-round swimming pools (Collier Pool and Corpus Christi Natatorium) will be open with free admission. City Splash Pads are closed in accordance with Stage 3 Drought Restrictions.
