City Council Approves Purchase of Additional Pothole Truck

City of Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI – (News Release) At the February 15th regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and the City Council approved the purchase of one new Bergkamp pothole patcher truck.

The truck from Doggett Freightliner of South Texas, LLC., Houston will add a 5th truck for in-house pothole patching projects citywide. The funding for the $227,213 purchase is included in the FY 2022 adopted budget.

This purchase is one of several steps the City is taking to continue the Saving Our Streets2 (SOS2) initiative. The initiative is a commitment to repairing failures on our roads today.

“Our City leadership team is doing everything they can to make Corpus Christi the best it can be. Repairing our streets is a top priority in my service as Mayor,” said Mayor Paulette Guajardo. “I am staying completely engaged and focused on street repair progress.”

The Bergkamp Pothole Patcher is used for the “traditional” method of repairing a pothole. The truck drastically reduces material waste with an insulated electric-heated hopper. This unit is equipped with all the necessary equipment.

The Department estimates that the new unit will arrive by March 2022.
