City Council Approves $28 Million Groundwater Rights

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - Corpus Christi City Council approved a groundwater rights purchase and sale agreement with ERF Real Estate, Inc. for $28 million to support the extension of the Western Well Field and enhance the City’s long-term water supply capacity.

The agreement secures groundwater rights beneath approximately 2,478 acres in Nueces County, representing a significant investment in the City’s water infrastructure and future water supply. The addition will enable the City to continue its efforts towards diversifying the water supply portfolio.

The property includes both surface and groundwater rights, as provided by ERF Real Estate, Inc.

This addition represents another milestone in the City’s commitment to water security, ensuring adequate water supplies for residential, commercial, and large-volume users throughout the region.
