CHRISTUS Health Awards $1.1M in Community Grants

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) – Seven Coastal Bend nonprofit organizations have been selected to receive more than $1.1 million in funding through the community investments supported by CHRISTUS Spohn Health System and the CHRISTUS Community Impact Fund, advancing access to healthcare, behavioral health services, food security, workforce development and maternal health across the region.

The organizations receiving funding include:

• The Purple Door

• Compassionate Care Clinic

• Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi

• My Direct Obstetric Care Non-Profit Clinic

• St. John Paul II Academy

• Coastal Bend Food Bank

• Corpus Christi Metro Ministries

“These partnerships reflect our commitment to care for the whole community, not just those who come through our doors,” said Deacon Peter McCourt, vice president of mission integration for CHRISTUS Spohn Health System. “By investing in organizations that address hunger, access to care, behavioral health, maternal health and workforce development, we’re helping create healthier communities and advancing our mission to serve those who are most vulnerable.”

The local grants are part of a broader investment by the CHRISTUS Fund, which will provide more than $3.5 million this year to 56 nonprofit organizations across Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Latin America. The grants support programs addressing some of the most pressing needs in the communities CHRISTUS serves.

Since its launch in 2011, the CHRISTUS Fund has invested nearly $30 million into communities served by CHRISTUS Health, strengthening partnerships with organizations that share the ministry's commitment to improving the health and quality of life for those most in need.
