City of Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI – (News Release) On Feb.25th, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced new guidelines allowing unmasking indoors.

Under the old guidelines, masks were recommended for people living in communities with high transmission rates. But now, in addition to COVID-19 caseloads, the new guidance considers hospitalizations, current beds occupied by COVID-19 patients, and overall hospital capacity.

The immunocompromised or those living with people at a high risk of severe disease from COVID-19 should continue taking precautions.

The new mandate allows people to go without masks in public indoor spaces to include:

  • Restaurants

  • Bars

  • Shopping Centers

  • Salons

  • Movie Theatres

  • Concert Halls

  • Offices

  • Government Buildings

  • Churches

  • Schools

The federal mask mandate that applies to planes, airports, trains, and other modes of public transportation will remain in effect until Friday, March 18.
