CCPD Rescues Man on Old Harbor Bridge

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - On July 25, 2025, at 11:52 pm, Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department were dispatched to the old Harbor Bridge in reference to a subject in crisis. The subject had called 911 while under the structure advising he was in crisis.

When Officers arrived, they established communication with the male by phone. Corpus Christi Police Department's Hostage Negotiation Team and Corpus Christi Fire Department's Rescue Unit were called to the scene to assist. An Officer on the Hostage Negotiation Team and two medics geared up in harnesses and climbed over the railing and under the structure in order to continue communication with the subject. After 2 hours of communication, the subject agreed to climb back over the rail to safety. The subject was greeted by an Officer on top of the bridge and given resources to assist him.
