CCISD Officer Involved in Shooting

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - On Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 4:45pm, CCPD received a call to back up an off-duty Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD) officer at the 1800 block of S. Padre Island Drive.
Preliminary information is the CCISD officer made contact with a subject in a vehicle who was suspected of theft that occurred inside the store. The officer was drug from the vehicle and shots were fired by the officer. The vehicle continued driving after the officer fell from the vehicle and drove into a nearby field. CCPD utilized drones to check the status of the male inside the vehicle and found him deceased. Medics transported the CCISD officer to a local hospital for minor injuries.
The Corpus Christi Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division will be investigating this incident.
