Business is Strong at CCIA

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) - The Summer of 2021 has proven to be a busy one at Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA). More than 30,000 passengers boarded commercial planes in June, just 6% shy of the pre-COVID-19 levels experienced in June of 2019. This comes after months of low usage and declining revenues due to the pandemic.
The recovery at CCIA has outpaced the national average and is drawing the attention of airlines that serve CCIA and those that might consider serving the community in the future.
“We are glad to be on the radar of airlines for all the right reasons,” said Kevin Smith, the Director of Aviation at CCIA. One other obvious sign of CCIA’s robust recovery is that most flights are arriving and departing with very few or with no empty seats. “We can’t say enough about the loyalty that members of our community are showing as they choose to fly CCIA,” said Smith. Customer retention is rising, with higher percentages of local travelers choosing to fly CCIA instead of flying out of other airports.
Due to a federal order, masks are still required inside the terminal and on aircraft. Travelers who haven’t flown in a while are encouraged to brush up on TSA rules before packing and arriving at the airport.
