EDINBURG (News Release) – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents apprehended 14 migrants from a tactor trailer and vehicle pursuit.

On July 1, RGV agents working near McCook, attempted to initiate an immigration inspection on a Ford F150 truck. The driver failed to yield and led the agents on a vehicle pursuit. The truck drove through a ranch perimeter fence before the occupants bailed out of the vehicle.  Agents apprehended eight illegal migrants in the surrounding area and were transported to the station to be processed accordingly.

The driver was not located.

Later that evening, Kingsville Border Patrol Station agents working at the Javier Vega Jr. Border Patrol Checkpoint apprehended six migrants concealed within vegetables in the cargo area of trailer. The concealed migrants are nationals from Guatemala and El Salvador.  The driver, passenger, and subjects were taken into Border Patrol custody and processed accordingly.

The Rio Grande Valley Sector currently has multiple campaigns focused on rescues and danger awareness, such as “Operation Big Rig” and “No Se Arriesgue” to combat smuggling and ultimately save lives. Call 911 to report suspicious activity; “They’re humans, not cargo!”

The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and report suspicious activity at 800-863-9382.
