Border Patrol Arrest Multiple Criminal Migrants

EDINBURG (News Release) - Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector (RGV) agents arrested two 18th Street gang members and two previously convicted sex offenders.

On Tuesday August 17, McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents apprehended a group of migrants near La Joya, Texas, after they illegally entered the United States.  Among the group was a 31-year-old male from El Salvador who was identified as an 18th Street gang member. 

Later that morning, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station agents apprehended 46 migrants in Rio Grande City, Texas. Among the group was Arlin Reinaldo Ruiz-Cardona, a Honduran national, whose record checks revealed a prior arrest by the New York City Police Department’s Sex Offender Unit for course of sexual conduct with a child less than 11 years of age.  He was sentenced to four years’ incarceration and was subsequently removed from the United States.

Tuesday evening, MCS agents apprehended a group of migrants near Hidalgo, Texas, after they illegally entered the United States. Among the group was a 41-year-old female from El Salvador who is an 18th Street gang member. 

On August 17, Fort Brown Border Patrol Station agents apprehended nine migrants near the levee in Brownsville, Texas.  Record checks revealed,  Marco Antonio Tellez, a Mexican national, was previously arrested by the Lexington, Kentucky, Police Department for 1st degree attempted sexual abuse of a child.  He was sentenced to one year incarceration and was subsequently removed from the United States.

Border Patrol processed the subjects accordingly.
