Border Patrol Seizes Over $3.2 Million in Meth at Rio Grande Valley Checkpoint

SARITA, TEXAS (News Release) - U.S. Border Patrol agents at the Javier Vega, Jr. checkpoint, with the help of a K-9 unit, intercepted a major drug smuggling attempt on Friday, seizing 90 bundles of methamphetamine weighing approximately 101 pounds.

The meth, with an estimated street value of $3,264,256, was discovered during a routine inspection. Authorities arrested the driver, a U.S. citizen, at the scene.

“This seizure highlights the dedication and vigilance of our agents and the critical role our K-9 units play in securing our borders,” a Border Patrol spokesperson said.

The case has been turned over to federal authorities for further investigation.
