KINGSVILLE, TEXAS - Wings Over South Texas returned to Kingsville the weekend of April 17–18, 2026, bringing the highly anticipated airshow back to the community. Held every four years, the event once again drew crowds eager to see the U.S. Navy Blue Angels take to the skies.

Festivities began Friday evening with “Meet the Blues” at the J.K. Northway Exposition Center. The event gave attendees a chance to connect with the Blue Angels ahead of the main show. Vendors, including local businesses and organizations like the Kingsville Rotary, lined the venue with food, games, and promotional booths. Vicky Trevino of the Rotary shared that it was her first time attending a Blue Angels event and said she was excited to be part of the experience.

The Blue Angels were introduced on stage by name and role, representing a range of backgrounds from across the United States and beyond, including the Philippines. Kingsville Mayor Sam Fugate welcomed the team before they spread out to meet attendees, sign autographs, and pose for photos.

Saturday’s airshow at Naval Air Station Kingsville drew more than a thousand spectators from across the region. While many came for the Blue Angels, the day featured a full lineup of performances leading up to the main event. Among them was the Misty Blues All-Women Skydiving Team, an all-female skydiving team that impressed the crowd earlier in the day. Food vendors were also on hand, serving a variety of meals and drinks.

For attendee Micah Hare, it was his first airshow. He described the experience as “amazing,” noting how impressive it was to see both the aircraft and the pilots’ skill up close.

The Blue Angels took flight around 3 p.m., delivering an approximately hour-long performance. A commentator guided the audience through each maneuver, introducing pilots as they entered their jets and explaining what to watch for in the sky. The show built gradually, starting with a smaller number of aircraft before expanding into louder, more complex formations.

At several points, the team surprised the crowd. One jet made a low, fast pass over the canopy, catching many off guard, while another maneuver revealed a plane seemingly hidden alongside another before breaking away. Throughout the performance, spectators reacted with awe—shouts of “Wow” and “Look at that” echoing across the crowd as cameras captured the action.

Beth Stahl, also attending her first airshow, said her favorite moment came at the finale when all six jets flew directly toward the crowd before splitting into a dramatic formation overhead. “It was a heart-throbbing, chest-vibrating, ear-rumbling, visually exciting end to an amazing show,” she said, adding that the entire experience exceeded her expectations.

As the show wrapped up, a light rain began to fall, but it did little to dampen the energy. The Blue Angels completed their performance, leaving attendees in awe. Families filled the grounds, with children carrying souvenirs like plush planes, Legos, and keychains—clear signs of a memorable day for all ages.

Wings Over South Texas is expected to return to Kingsville in 2030. In the meantime, the Blue Angels are scheduled to perform at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, offering another opportunity for those who don’t want to wait four years to see them again.
