BISHOP - At 2:30 a.m. this morning, the Bishop Police Department was in pursuit of a 18-wheeler traveling Northbound on U.S. Highway 77. As the 18-wheeler continued northbound on U.S. Highway 77 into Nueces County, Bishop P.D. and Nueces County Precinct 5 Constables authorized the use of spikes and stop sticks to disable the tires of the 18-wheeler.

The disabled tires eventually forced the driver to come to a stop near the Nueces and San Patricio county line. The driver identified as Jose Buentollo, was taken into custody without further incident and transported to Kleberg County Jail on multiple criminal charges.

Nueces County Sheriff’s Office, Nueces County Precinct 3 and Precinct 5 Constable’s Office assisted with the pursuit.

The 18 wheeler was recovered and only sustained minor damage.

Update: On the original post we said that the driver was taken to Nueces County Jail but this has been corrected.
