LAREDO – Border Patrol agents assigned to the Laredo North Station respond to a concerned citizen’s report and prevent a human smuggling event in north Laredo.

The incident began during the late evening of January 21, when agents responded to a report of multiple vehicles dropping off several individuals near a transportation lot on Union Pacific Boulevard.

Agents searched the area and quickly apprehended 48 individuals who were in the United States illegally from the countries of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Ecuador, and Nicaragua.  Most of the individuals were not wearing any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).  All of the individuals were provided PPE, medically screened, and taken into custody.

U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Laredo Sector will continue to stand at the ready to secure the Nation’s borders, prevent the flow of illegal immigration, slow the spread of COVID-19, and uphold the agency’s Core Values of Vigilance, Service, and Integrity.
