Assistant Coach Killed in Car Accident

BISHOP - A single car accident on Sunday, August 13, 2023, left Bishop High School with the loss of coach and science teacher Cody Ryan Perez. The 29-year-old Kingsville resident was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Perez was driving west on Farm-to-Market Road 70 at about 11:40 p.m. when his Honda Civic lost control at a curve.

The crash is still being investigated to determine any contributing factors.
