KINGSVILLE, TEXAS (News Release) - The Kingsville Police Department (KPD) is mourning the loss of Moises Castillo, a 35-year-old Kingsville resident who was preparing to be sworn in as a Kingsville police officer and was killed Tuesday in a motorcycle collision.

At approximately 11:57 a.m., officers responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a crash at the intersection of Caesar Avenue and 8th Street. Preliminary investigation indicates a 2025 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Caesar Avenue when it collided with a 2000 Ford pickup truck traveling westbound that turned left in front of the motorcycle.

Castillo was transported to Christus Spohn Hospital–Kleberg, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup, a 67-year-old Kingsville resident, suffered minor injuries.

Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol troopers are assisting the Kingsville Police Department with the ongoing investigation.

After leaving the Kingsville Fire Department, Castillo enrolled in the police academy at Del Mar College and joined the Kingsville Police Department. He was scheduled to be sworn in as a KPD officer in January.
