Agents Seize Abandoned Weapons

A National Guard soldier assigned to the Eagle Pass South Border Patrol Station found an abandoned bag of weapons.
EAGLE PASS (News Release) - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Eagle Pass South Station seized an abandoned bag containing firearms near Eagle Pass, May 5.
A member of the National Guard assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station discovered a black gym bag abandoned in high grass. Border Patrol agents responded to the scene and a search of the bag revealed eight AK-47 style pistols and 10 AK-47 style 30-round magazines. Agents transported the firearms and magazines to the Eagle Pass South Station for further processing.
During processing, it was revealed that four of the weapons had been reported as stolen. The Bureau of Alcohol, tobacco, Firearms and Explosives took custody of the weapons.
“This is the second time our agents encountered abandoned weapons and ammo in this area,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Austin L. Skero II. “It’s critical that our agents stay alert to all threats and work with our partners to stop criminal organizations from entering our communities.”
