Agents Keep Gang Members and Sex Offenders off the Streets

EDINBURG (News Release) – Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) agents arrested two child sex offenders, four Mara-Salvatrucha (MS-13) and a 18th Street gang member in 48 hours, keeping them out of our communities.

On May 9, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station (RGC) agents processed a Salvadoran national MS-13 gang member. His criminal history includes previous charges for assault and battery, and he had previously been removed from the U.S. Later that day, RGC agents arrested another MS-13 gang member who was convicted of money laundering and served 33 months confinement. Additionally, Kingsville Border Patrol Station agents also encountered a Salvadoran national MS-13 gang member.

On May 10, Fort Brown Border Patrol Station agents processed Antonio Ramirez, a Mexican national who was sentenced to more than a year incarceration in 2008 for indecency with a 10-year-old child. The criminal migrant has been removed from the U.S. multiple times. That same day, RGV agents apprehended a Salvadoran national 18th Street gang member and another Salvadoran national MS-13 gang member. MCS agents apprehended a Mexican national, Leobardo Reyes, whose checks revealed he was convicted of online solicitation of a minor and was sentenced to six years’ probation.
