Press Release

EDINBURG – Since Tuesday, U.S. Border Patrol agents interdicted five human smuggling cases resulting in multiple arrests.

On Tuesday, Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) agents received information of a suspected stash house located in Rio Grande City, Texas.  Agents, with the assistance of the Rio Grande City Police Department, removed 11 subjects kept inside the house. The smuggled subjects were from Guatemala and Mexico.

Hours later, RGV agents worked with the Starr County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) in apprehending 17 illegal aliens and one caretaker at a house located in Roma, Texas.  Along with the arrest of the subjects, authorities seized a small amount of narcotics, money, and a .22 caliber pistol.  The smuggled aliens were from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Mexico.  The caretaker, narcotics, money, and pistol were turned over to SCSO.

Additionally, RGV agents apprehended 32 illegal aliens within three separate smuggling cases that occurred within the last two days.

All subjects are being processed accordingly.

Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation.  The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
