50,000 Pounds of Corn Spill After 18-Wheeler Rolls Over

SINTON, TEXAS (News Release) - An 18-wheeler carrying approximately 50,000 pounds of corn rolled over Tuesday night, temporarily closing the northbound exit ramp from U.S. Highway 77 to Texas 188 near Sinton.
According to San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera, the single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 11:18 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4. The truck overturned while traveling northbound on U.S. 77 at the TX 188 exit, spilling its load of corn and leaving debris scattered across the roadway.
Authorities said the driver was not injured in the crash.

The TX 188 exit from northbound U.S. 77 was temporarily closed while crews work to clear the overturned truck and remove the corn from the roadway. Motorists were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes until the scene has been cleared.
The cause of the rollover has not been released, and the incident remains under investigation.
