Nueces Electric Cooperative

ROBSTOWN, TEXAS (News Release) - On Friday, May 3rd, Texas's electric cooperatives gathered for the much-anticipated 4th Annual Lineman Rodeo, hosted by Nueces Electric Cooperative. This yearly event continues to grow in scale and excitement, showcasing the excellence and expertise of lineworkers from across Texas.

Participating cooperatives included:

  • Jackson Electric Cooperative

  • Karnes Electric Cooperative

  • Magic Valley Electric Cooperative

  • Medina Electric Cooperative

  • Nueces Electric Cooperative

  • Rio Grande Electric Cooperative

  • San Bernard Electric Cooperative

  • San Patricio Electric Cooperative

  • Victoria Electric Cooperative

  • Wharton County Electric Cooperative

Together, they formed teams comprising of both apprentices and journeyman linemen, each eager to put their skills to the test.

The competition featured various categories, including Best Overall Cooperative, Best Apprentice Overall, Best Journeyman Overall, OCR Replacement, Journeyman Speed Climb, Journeyman Hurtman Rescue, Apprentice Cutout Replacement, Apprentice Speed Climb, and Apprentice Hurtman Rescue. These challenges not only highlighted the participants' technical prowess but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and friendly rivalry among the teams.

Here are some of the awards Nueces Electric took home, 2nd place in over all journeyman speed climb awarded to DJ C., 3rd place apprentice cutout awarded to Matt M., 3rd place apprentice hurtman awarded to Darshan B. Amidst the thrills of the competition and the buzz of camaraderie, all Texas cooperatives came together for a big family-style lunch, sharing stories and forging connections that will endure long after the event.
