KINGSVILLE - On July 16, Brush Country CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) hosted their annual Color the Way 5K fun run. A Court Appointed Special Advocate, or CASA volunteer, provides a voice for children who have been abused or neglected.

The annual event is a fundraiser to help offset the cost for volunteer training and to provide advocacy to children and youth.

According to Brush Country CASA’s website, “volunteers get to know the child and gather information from everyone involved in his or her daily life, including family members, foster parents, teachers, daycare providers, doctors, lawyers, social workers and other relevant persons.”

CASA volunteers represent a child’s best interests while they are in care.
