2 Teens Arrested for Fatal Racing

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - On Wednesday November 5, 2025, at 8:08 pm Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department were dispatched to the 1600 block of North Lexington Blvd. in reference to a hit and run accident involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they located a juvenile male receiving medical aid from private EMS.

Corpus Christi Fire Department personnel arrived and took over medical aid. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

During the investigation, the two vehicles involved returned to the scene.  The drivers of both vehicles were detained and interviewed, along with witnesses from the scene.  It was found the two vehicles involved were racing north on Lexington Blvd. The vehicles then turned around south bound and continued racing down the street when one of the vehicles struck the victim.

Ricardo Licea (19) and Jesus Rodriguez (18) were arrested and transported to the city detention center for booking. Both are charged with Racing Causing Death (2nd degree felony).
