18-Wheeler Crash Knocks Out Power to 2,300 Kingsville Customers

KINGSVILLE, TEXAS (News Release) - A crash involving an 18-wheeler Monday afternoon caused significant damage to the electrical infrastructure in Kingsville, leaving approximately 2,300 customers without power.

According to officials, the incident occurred at approximately 12:32 p.m. when an 18-wheeler struck a utility pole. The impact caused three additional poles to fall, damaged four crossarms and brought down power lines.

Utility crews responded immediately and were able to restore electricity to approximately 1,700 customers by 1:22 p.m.

As of 4 p.m. Monday, approximately 600 customers remained without power.

Officials said the extent of the damage means repairs will take several more hours. Customers who remain without service are expected to have their power restored by approximately 10 p.m. Monday, or sooner.

Crews are continuing to work on repairs while taking necessary safety precautions.

Officials thanked affected customers for their patience and understanding as crews work to restore service to everyone as quickly and safely as possible.
