18 Bundles of Cocaine Found in Bishop

BISHOP (News Release) - Overnight on May 12, a Bishop Police Department Supervisory Officer assigned to the Nueces County District Attorney’s Criminal Interdiction Unit (NCDA-CIU) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle (2018 Ford Fusion) on U.S. Highway 77 North in Bishop, Texas, for observed Texas Transportation Code violations.

The vehicle was being driven by an adult female traveling from Mexico to Atlanta, GA and during the course of the traffic stop, Officers identified several inconsistent and deceptive statements.

Based on reasonable suspicion Officers on scene requested and obtained consent to search the vehicle and during the subsequent search, Officers located a total of 6 false compartments fabricated into the vehicle's frame. 18 bundles weighing a total of 10-kilograms and containing suspected cocaine, were recovered from compartments within the vehicle.

The driver was taken into custody and will be facing federal charges.

The Nueces County District Attorney's Office Criminal Interdiction Unit (NCDA-CIU) participating agencies who assisted in this case, include Nueces County Precinct Five Constable, Nueces County Constable Precinct 3, Robstown Police Department, Nueces County District Attorney’s Office and Nueces County E.S.D 3.
