17 Year-Old Arrested for Sexual Assault

JIM WELLS COUNTY, TEXAS (News Release) - On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a preliminary investigation into allegations of a sexual assault. The offense report was forwarded to the Jim Wells County Criminal Investigation Division where investigators conducted a full investigation with the assistance of the Child Advocacy Center of Kingsville, Child Protective Services, and Driscoll’s Children’s Hospital.

As a result of the investigation, Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Investigators developed sufficient probable cause to appear before a magistrate and ask for an arrest warrant to be issued for Manuel Vega (17) of Premont, Texas.

The warrant, charging Manuel with Sexual Assault of a Child under 14 and Possession with intent to Promote Child Pornography was executed and Manuel was arrested on Friday, May 8, 2026. Manuel was transported to the Jim Wells County Jail where he was remanded to the custody of jail personnel.

All persons who are arrested by Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office are assumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
