Omar Valdez (18YOA) Arrested for Capital Murder, Investigation Continues

Officers responded to a stabbing at 9:51 a.m., at 529 E. Fordyce Ave. Responding officer found Jacinto Obregon (65YOA) laying on the driveway and they could see that he had been stabbed. Kingsville FD EMS arrived and transported Mr. Obregon to the local hospital, Spohn Kleberg Memorial Hospital. Mr. Obregon was subsequently transported by Halo Flight to Christus Spohn Shoreline hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
The investigation revealed that Mr. Obregon was cleaning his car, in his driveway, when two males approached him. It is believed that the two attempted to rob Mr. Obregon and he was stabbed. The victim’s wife heard yelling and came outside and saw her husband on the ground. She called 9-1-1 to report the incident. The males were seen running westbound from the scene.
A responding KPD Officer saw a male run across 500 blk. of S. 6th street. The officer was able to stop the male near the train tracks and noticed that the subject had blood on his hands. Initially he was uncooperative and refused to give a statement. He was identified by witnesses as being involved. Omar Valdez (18YOA) of Dallas has been arrested and placed in the Kleberg County Jail. Mr. Valdez has been charged with Capital Murder. No bond has been set for Mr. Valdez at the time of this release.
