For young guitarist who can read music and are familiar with basic classical guitar techniques, Del Mar College’s Music Department has scheduled its fourth annual three-day Viking Classical Guitar Summer Camp Tuesday through Thursday, June 4-6.
Camp hours run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Heritage Campus in various rehearsal halls throughout each day. During this year’s camp, participants will work on developing a fast and fluent right-hand technique in arpeggios and scales during morning exercises. Participants will then play with friends in small and large ensembles as well as work on strategies to improve sight-reading in preparation for UIL competition. Cost for this year’s camp is $65 and includes lunch each day as well as a Viking Classical Guitar Camp tee shirt. The camp is free for Music majors starting at DMC.
